YMMV / Magnum, P.I. (2018)

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The episode "A World of Trouble" points that getting a visa to work/live in a country by pretending to get married to someone who's from said country is a bad idea, even with Juliet's case since her work visa was about to expire soon.
  • Spoiled by the Format: Domenick Lombardozzi is listed as a guest star in the first episode despite apparently being part of the core group. Guess who doesn't survive the episode?
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • The fact that Magnum doesn’t have a moustache, like Tom Selleck did, fans were not at all pleased with this. The series lampshaded this in the second episode by having Magnum briefly wear a Selleck-like moustache; it doesn't look good on him, so he shaves it off immediately.
    • In addition, fans were not happy that the original plan, for Magnum’s daughter Lily Catherine to follow in her father’s footsteps to become a PI was rejected in favour for a reboot.
    • The decision to Gender Swap Higgins upset some who felt it had become a cliche to do this (see Doctor Who), while others were not pleased at the likelihood of Magnum and Higgins having a romance as a result (a justified concern given the show's Ship Tease-heavy early episodes).
