YMMV / LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • Fans either enjoyed or disliked this take on VeggieTales. LarryBoy getting his own show? Awesome! Did the Flash animation age well? Er, not so much...
    • Like with the Netflix series, fans either appreciated the more lighthearted/campy appeal or disliked it compared to the original episodes.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Awful Alvin is far and away the most popular of the villains introduced in this show if fan-art has anything to go by. Bonus points for him mentioned in "The Yodelnapper" before his second and final appearance.
    • This also counts to many of the other characters that never appeared outside of the VeggieTales series.
  • Franchise Original Sin: This show was the first to be a spinoff from the main VeggieTales series, but unfortunately this was the first case that trying to spin off doesn't always work as this was repeated. In this case, the Larry-Boy series tries to be a light hearted cartoon that many fans and parents weren't very happy with, as this was a similar repeat with the Netflix series.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The situation with Hula Friends must have been a prophecy for amiibo.
    • So we've got a villain who turns people evil when they get mad via the use of flying creatures that latch onto the victims faces, the only one that can stop him uses an unorthodox manner of swinging from building to building, and who later teams up with another hero who is themed after a dark-colored animal. Hmmm...
  • Memetic Mutation: "DANCE WITH ME, LAMPY!"
  • Older Than They Think: A lot of fans think that the idea of LarryBoy using the plunger ears as web-slinging started since LarryBoy and the Bad Apple, when in reality started with this series.
  • Poor Man's Substitute: Some people at the time of release considered this as a poor man's The Powerpuff Girls.
  • Replacement Scrappy: For some fans, Herbert and Wally can be this to Jimmy and Jerry Gourd.
  • Vindicated by History: Apparently it didn't get that much of a positive reception when it came out, however as years passed it did get some more appreciation with quite a few wanting it to get a revival.
