YMMV / Kirby: Right Back at Ya! Odyssey of Dreams

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Although the story was written back in 2008, it seems to have predicted quite a few elements in future Kirby games:
      • Bandana Dee and Adeleine becoming playable characters. Bandana Dee even has a spear as one of his weapons, though a much different kind. The rewrite acknowledges this, and gives Waddle Dee his regular spear from the games as an early weapon.
      • It also has Bandana Dee using a Parasol years before he canonically did.
      • Meta Knight getting possessed by the main villainous force.
      • Dedede uses an axe as one of his weapons, and dons his Masked Dedede mask while possessed—both of which are part of his boss battle when being controlled by Taranza in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
      • Chapter 21 features a cult that worships Dark Matter, which is remarkably similar in concept to the Cult of the Jamba Heart from Kirby Star Allies.
      • Chapter 29 features a Meta Knight from an alternate timeline who became a Cyborg. Mecha Knight, anyone?
      • General Dee's secret weapon turns out to be a giant freight train with a Waddle Dee's face on the front, which bears a striking resemblance to the Waddle Dee Trains from Old Odyssey.
      • The Fusion Dance between Zero and Marx comes out looking like a large, winged creature with a horned crown, floating hands, and an eye in its mouth—a near-identical description to Magolor Soul.
      • Proteaus the Primordial shares more than a few similarities with Void Termina, being a massive, ancient being that created the world who's defeated by shooting at various weak points that appear on his body.
      • Although far from the only Kirby fan work to do so, this story featured a sand-themed copy ability (Sandstorm) long before Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe introduced an official Sand ability.
    • Chapter 6 has a mermaid named Undyne.
