YMMV / Killswitch Engage

Go To

  • Awesome Music: "My Curse". Arguably Killswitch Engage's most popular single, and it shows. It was featured in Burnout Paradise for a reason...
  • Covered Up: Their cover of Dio's "Holy Diver" is more famous to many people of younger generations than the Dio original due to the Killswitch version having a funny video to go with it. This is not the case in the metal community, though, since the song is a Signature Song of one of the most respected metal musicians.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: They are the most respected mainstream metalcore band.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Howard and Jesse get along great, and Howard's shared the stage with him plenty since leaving the band.
  • Misattributed Song: Once again, "Holy Diver". There are definitely people out there who think Killswitch wrote it.
  • Refrain from Assuming: "My Curse" is often called "This is My Curse".
  • Signature Song: More than one:
    • Howard Jones:
      • "The End of Heartache"
      • "My Curse"
      • "Holy Diver"
    • Jesse Leach
      • "In Due Time"
      • "My Last Serenade"
  • Song Association:
    • For many video game fans, the first time they heard Killswitch was during the end credits of Resident Evil: Apocalypse during which plays "The End of Heartache".
    • "My Last Serenade" was featured in True Crime: Streets of LA and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (along with "Fixation On The Darkness" in the former and "Temple From The Within" in the latter).
    • A lot of racing game fans associate "My Curse" with Burnout Dominator (which is later reused for Paradise). Plus, it was featured in Sleeping Dogs (2012) as well.
    • "My Curse" also got some mileage from being featured in Guitar Hero III, and Rock Band later having its own Killswitch Engage music DLC.
    • "Reckoning" was used in Madden NFL '10.
    • "This Fire Burns" appeared in both WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2011 and WWE All Stars.
