- Awesome Music:
- Jerry Goldsmith's score is so sweet, though it borrows heavily from his own Explorers from two years earlier.
- "Cupid" and "Twistin' The Night Away" by Sam Cooke. Rod Stewart's cover of the latter song, which played over the end credits. Then there's The Spinners' "Cupid".
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The dancing scene to "Twistin' the Night Away" in Tuck's apartment is this, ignoring the seriousness to the situation (and giving the audience a break).
- Demographically Inappropriate Humor: Mr. Igoe puts on a new hand attachment while on a hot date with Dr. Canker. We hear it vibrating off-screen. Dr. Canker looks pleased to see it.
- Heartwarming Moments:
- Tuck crying Tears of Joy when he finds out Lydia's pregnant.
- Tuck's return to full size, him embracing Lydia after the ordeal and hugging Jack like a friend. In the course of a 24 hour period, he made a new friend he wouldn't have met through any other circumstances and has reconnected with his ex-girlfriend and knowing he's about to become a father.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: This wouldn't be the last time Vernon Wells has a bad experience caused by lab scientists.
- One-Scene Wonder: Gravel-voiced, longtime character actress Kathleen Freeman steals the show as the Dream Lady.
- Strawman Has a Point: The Big Bad actually monologues to Jack that miniaturization would revolutionize the world, making whoever developed it fantastically rich - one word: Nanomachines. And the government is only developing it to fit schmutzes like Jack with sensory-jacking surveillance equipment. Reed Richards Is Useless at its best/worst. He's not Unintentionally Sympathetic because he works for violent criminals and dictators, but he's not wrong either.
- Suspiciously Similar Song: The Cowboy's theme is suspiciously like an Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western score.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: The FX still holds up today, especially the heart valve scene.note The film actually won an Academy Award for Special Effects, and has been the only film from Dante's filmography to win an Oscar.
