YMMV / I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The format is HUGE in Germany! It receives plenty of media coverage during the two weeks it runs (even on rival TV channels!) and most participants actually manage to boost their careers afterwards.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In the first episode of the 2017 series, Dec joked that his co-presenter was "the gorgeous Holly Willoughby" before sharing a sweet moment with Ant — rumours had circulated that Ant wouldn't be able to present that series because of his admittance to rehab earlier in the year. By the time of the 2018 series, Ant was unable to join Dec due to taking a year-long hiatus from TV presenting after a drink driving arrest, so he had to be replaced... by Holly Willoughby.
  • Ho Yay:
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Ant and Dec's cheeky banter is a considerable draw for the show, even for non-reality TV fans.
  • No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: Former Health Secretary and current MP Matt Hancock's appearance on the 22nd series was as controversial as you would expect, particularly as it occurred at a time of major political instability in the UK. That said, there is some polling evidence that it has actually made him more popular in spite of it all.
  • Shocking Elimination: Noel Edmonds going out at the first vote in 2017 surprised quite a lot of people, most of all ITV, who were rumoured to have paid £600,000 for his appearance.
  • Spiritual Successor: To the British version of Survivor. The first series of that received good ratings, yet ITV wrongly estimated it to get 3 million more viewers than it did, and axed it (rightly or wrongly) in 2002. This show, also about surviving in a jungle but with celebs, aired in 2002.
    • All but confirmed when Survivor unsuccessfully sued when ABC took this show to the USA, which had the opposite effect - I'm a Celeb flopped, while Survivor even now continues to pull in the viewers.
