YMMV / Flying Witch

Go To

  • Ho Yay: Akane and Inukai gleefully invade each other's' personal space when they get wasted together in episode four. They're also very proddy and close to one another during subsquent encounters.
    • Hinted at with some of Makoto and Nao's female classmates with their admiration for Kazuno, shown during the street festival in Aomori; this visibly flusters Kazuno, and occurs again when Makoto remarks on how cute she is.
  • Sleeper Hit: The anime has had fairly low ratings, but had been warmly welcomed, critically.
  • Signature Scene: Makoto presenting Nao with an utterly creepy mandrake, particularly with the anime adaptation emphasising the unnerving noise and movement of the plant.
  • Spiritual Adaptation:
    • To Sabrina the Teenage Witch. It even has a talking black cat.
    • On the other hand, it could be the closest thing to an animated adapatation of Hallmark's The Good Witch.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Chito is a female cat, though it's not easy to tell just by looking at her appearance or the way she acts. Also not helped by certain translations - notably Crunchyroll's - referring to the cat with male terms at times.
