• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • The series introduces Carlos under the title of "experimental theologian" (the standard term for scientists in Lyra's world) and introduces the idea of him having a Desert Bluffs counterpart named Carlo Raimondi (a Canon Foreigner, since nothing in canon had hinted as Carlos having a counterpart in Desert Bluffs). Years after the story ended, future episodes of Welcome to Night Vale would confirm that Carlos did indeed have a Desert Bluffs Double... named Charles the Theologist!
  • The arc in which Cecil and Carlos visit Will's Earth features a brief discussion of screen adaptations of Lyra and Will's childhood, including a clear Take That! toward the real-life film adaptation of the original book series; it says that the "2036 miniseries" is considered the definitive adaptation by fans. Real-life HDM fans wouldn't have to wait nearly as long, as an actual TV adaptation of the series (not even a miniseries!) debuted in 2019 and was indeed considered a much more faithful adaptation.
