• Anvilicious: The American right, but especially evangelical Christians, are evil totalitarians. The anvil is really so large you could crush a small house with it.
• Complete Monster: President Steve Jordan is the dictator of the theocratic regime that has taken over the United States of America. Starting his career as a member of the Republican far-right, Jordan worked with other fundamentalists to reshape America into a "Godly Kingdom" for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Hired as a consultant for Sarah Palin's crumbling administration, Jordan ensured her second term by taking advantage of terrorist attacks to declare Martial Law. Once in power, Jordan replaces the Constitution with the Fifty Blessings, carrying out assassinations and forced disappearances on political rivals and dissidents. When the Secular Bloc decides to secede from the Union, Jordan starts the Second American Civil War and leaves his mark on the conflict by firebombing the Castro neighborhood in San Francisco, massacring 12,000 people. More of Jordan's atrocities include: Using his elite Joshua Brigades to kill tens of thousands in California alone; killing half of the population in Greenpoint; and taking the surviving Secular Bloc fighters to a POW Camp, where their leader is stoned to death on live TV. After winning the war, Jordan proves his victory with the Purity Web, a system that eradicates privacy and controls all aspects of society.
• Moral Event Horizon: The bombing of the Castro (a gay neighborhood in San Francisco) during the Civil War, which "the F3" and evangelical leaders celebrated as being "divine justice", ended up turning America into a pariah in the eyes of the world, marking the turning point of the Steve Jordan administration as being irredeemably evil. Making it even worse, Jordan's forces had already captured San Francisco's airports and bridges, sealing its people in the city. It's made very clear that San Francisco had effectively already lost, and that the Castro bombing was nothing more than the deliberate and premeditated mass murder of twelve thousand people simply for being gay.
• Unintentional Period Piece: Several aspects of the alternate history scenario show clear signs of it having been written in the very early 2010s. Most significantly, a number of people who would become prominent figures in American conservative politics later on, such as Donald Trump, are not even mentioned, and the story would likely have gone differently had it been written just a few years later.
