YMMV / Batman '89

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Harvey Dent's Race Lift is emphasized quite strongly in the first two issues. It manages to steer away from derailing his characterisation when Harvey says he's been code-switching up until this point, which plays rather neatly into his Two-Face moniker.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Issue #3 shows Harvey Dent avoiding his gruesome fate, rescuing Drake from certain death and experiences a downpour of success after that. But there's something inherently off about the whole scene. First there's his meeting with some political donors, who are all smoking and filling the room with the resulting haze. Then when he's celebrating Barbara's promotion to Commissioner, Jerome appears out of nowhere and tells him to flip a coin. Harvey suddenly finds himself back in Burnside, and one side of his face is in great pain...
  • Older Than They Think: Barbara Gordon being Harvey Dent's fiancee originated in Wizard Magazine's pitch for an Ultimate Marvel-style reimagining back in 2003.
  • WTH, Costuming Department?: The decision to have Bruce Wayne wear his brown and yellow suit from Batman: The Animated Series. With Michael Keaton's facial features and his occasional reliance on glasses, he looks a lot like Dwight Schrute.
