- Awesome Music: Jerry Goldsmith's score.
- One of Goldsmith's most rambunctious, action-packed cue that he ever composed was "The Rescue", one of the best action cues in film music history.
- The brontos' main theme is pretty epic too.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Near the end there's a shot of Eric looking from a rear view mirror at the mother brontosaur charging on to him.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Baby crying over his father's corpse, as George and Susan witness this and are both saddened and horrified that a magnificent sauropod has been needlessly killed.
- Special Effects Failure: Many of the dinosaur effects look very rubbery and mechanical. This is most obvious whenever a scene focuses on the titular Baby.
- Tear Jerker: When Baby finds his/her (?) father's corpse and nuzzles it while crying. The music for this scene is appropriately titled simply "Tears" on Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack.
- The father charging the poachers to reach his tranquilized mate's side, only to be gunned down once he gets there. The worst part is, she's still conscious and watching every moment.
- Viewer Gender Confusion: Initially Susan and George call Baby a boy. Then suddenly it becomes a girl.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Leaving aside the high amount of demographically inappropriate humour and Family-Unfriendly Violence in a PG-rated movie from Disney, even allowing for it coming from its Touchstone Films division (its name when the movie came out), you have to wonder How the hell did the exchange between Dr. Loomis and his African pilot where latter makes a joke about beating his wife "I'd whip de bitch!" make it through?
