YMMV / After Forever

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Their self titled final album is special.
  • Breakup Breakout: After Forever was somewhat influential in its time, but these days the band is overshadowed by former members Floor Jansen's and Mark Jansen's current acts, Nightwish (a contemporary of AF) and Epica.
  • Broken Base: Invisible Circles. It's either one of the best albums they did, or a Narm-filled misstep from them.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: It was a pure coincidence that the self-titled album featured a very prominent omega on its artwork and then ended up being the band's last one.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In 2015, Floor's page was mistakenly blocked by Facebook on fake name grounds; she proceeded to throw a hissy fit on Instagram flaunting her 160,000 followers. So much for "Digital Deceit"!
  • Tear Jerker: "Lonely" as well as "Eccentric."
    • "Cry With A Smile" for whomever has lost a pet.
  • Values Resonance: "Digital Deceit," which deals with the protagonist escaping into the online world to distract from her real life issues, still rings true over 10 years later with the increasing presence of social media such as Facebook in our lives and the need to show off a happier image to the world.
    • On the Values Dissonance side, the assumption that all the relationships fostered online are meaningless, shallow or fake ring a little hollow in today's deeply interconnected world on a strongly community-based internet.
