    Season 1
  • "Meadowlands": Jackie Aprile dies, creating a change in the family's status quo and establishing the conflict that dominates the first season.
  • "Isabella": Having sunk into a deep depression, Tony snaps out of it once he becomes the target of a hit placed by Uncle Junior and his own mother, barely surviving the attempt and killing one of his would-be assassins.
  • "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano": Tony hears evidence that his uncle and mother conspired to have him whacked. Tony retaliates by having Junior's key men, Mikey Palmice and Chucky Signore, murdered. Artie is informed that Tony was behind the arson attack at his restaurant and briefly holds Tony at gunpoint. Junior is arrested by the FBI. Livia has a stroke just before Tony has the opportunity to smother her to death.
    Season 2
  • "Full Leather Jacket": Christopher is shot by two low-level thugs attempting to impress Richie Aprile. Chris spends a good deal of time on the brink of death while speaking of the afterlife that he claims he saw during a point in which he was clinically dead.
  • "The Knight in White Satin Armor": After fighting and getting into conflicts all season, Tony decides to have Richie whacked, but Janice beats him to the punch, killing Richie after a domestic dispute goes wrong. Janice leaves after the events of this episode.
  • "Funhouse": After experiencing a series of disturbing and disorienting fever dreams brought on by food poisoning, Tony deduces that Pussy is a rat. Tony, Paulie, and Silvio execute him and dump his body in the ocean under the pretense that he "went into the program."
    Season 3
  • "Proshai, Livushka": If you hadn't known that Livia's actress had passed away before this season aired, her sudden death would have been a surprise.
  • "Employee of the Month": Melfi's rape, along with her decision to not sic Tony on the guy who did it.
  • "Amour Fou": Jackie Jr.'s heist of Eugene's poker game goes wrong, leading into something that's more of a Foregone Conclusion than a Wham Episode; Tony coerces Ralphie into killing Jackie Jr., who is shot by Vito in the next episode.
  • "Army Of One": While Jackie Jr's death was pretty much expected at this point, what wasn't expected is Meadow finally denouncing her family and running off, AJ's sudden panic attack, the FBI choosing Adriana as Pussy's replacement, and Paulie turning against Tony.
    Season 4
  • "Whoever Did This": Tony's resentment of Ralph finally snaps when Ralph is accused of killing a horse that Tony was fond of. After confronting him in his home, the two get into an argument and then a fistfight in which Tony gains the upper hand and bludgeons Ralph to death; Ralph is later disposed of by a disoriented Tony and a drugged-out Chris.
  • "Whitecaps": Tony's bitter ex-girlfriend calls his house, telling Carmela that she used to "fuck your husband." Fragile over Furio's departure, Carmela confronts Tony on his infidelity and the state of their marriage; they decide to separate.
    Season 5
  • "Long Term Parking": One of the biggest Drama Bomb episodes in the series. After a season of working with the government, Adriana finally tells Chris that she is an informant. Chris rats her out to Tony and she is shot in the woods by Silvio. Chris is in so much pain that he has a heroin relapse, causing Tony to snap and beat him up. Tony learns where Tony B is but refuses to tell Johnny Sack when he learns that he wants to kill him. Tony and Carmela finally reconcile and get back together.
  • "All Due Respect": With Tony B. just having killed Phil Leotardo's brother Billy, the New York family pressures the New Jersey family to turn over one of their own. Having to deal with growing dissent and attacks from the Lupertazzi family, Tony tracks down his cousin and shoots him dead, leaving his corpse for Phil to find.
    Season 6
  • "Members Only": Eugene is revealed to be an informant for the FBI. After fellow informant Ray Curto dies of a heart attack, the FBI and Eugene's own home life pressure him so much that he later commits suicide. Later, a dementia-ridden Junior mistakes Tony for an old rival and shoots him in the stomach. The episode ends with Tony managing to dial 911 and losing consciousness immediately after, having lost a lot of blood.
  • "Cold Stones": Phil kills Vito, recently revealed to be gay, without Tony's permission.
  • "Kennedy and Heidi": Resentment between Tony and Chris has been growing for years; this comes to a head when both are involved in a severe car accident. Before calling an ambulance, Tony pinches Chris' nose shut, allowing him to suffocate on his own blood and die; Tony recovers from his injuries and is never caught.
  • "The Blue Comet": Phil wages war on the DiMeo family. Tony tries to get him killed first but ends up getting the wrong person killed. Soon after, Bobby Baccala is shot and killed, leaving his kids orphans and Janice a widow, and Silvio is shot and falls into a coma which he will probably not awaken from. With Tony next on Phil's list, he and the rest of the DiMeo family leaves their families to go to a safe house. Also, Tony lets Junior go to an institution, and Melfi refuses to see Tony anymore after she learns that therapy has a negative impact on criminals.
