''Beaches and Basilisks''
is a fantasy webcomic about the adventures of Roko Unserheld, an apprentice chandler whose home is attacked by a necromancer with a giant robot.
Beaches and Basilisks contains examples of:
- Animal Mecha: Mecha based on birds, various arthropods and a bear have appeared.
- Magitek: THELM As are giant robots powered by a mixture of magic and technology. Also, several character carry spellphones, which are magically-enabled cellphones.
- Our Dwarves Are All the Same: A dwarf claims everything about being a dwarf can be summarized as "Beards, booze, and battle."
- Our Gods Are Different: Several gods have been mentioned, ranging from Drooch, god of alcohol to Krysavi, the dragon-god who created the islands and is revealed to be a giant robot.
- Our Mermaids Are Different: Two distinct varieties have been seen. Fish-like merfolk are shown early on. Principal Tursiops represents a more traditional type of merfolk.
- Our Ogres Are Hungrier: Averted. An ogre teaches Monty that many of his people are intelligent and peaceful, contrary to their stereotypes.
- Our Zombies Are Different: Zombies are used for manual labor in Retoawgni: the City.
