WMG / Mother Russia Bleeds

This game and Hotline Miami take place in the same universe.

So, besides both games using Retraux, insane levels of violence and a dark synth soundtrack, both seem to have a certain plot element that could connect them. In Hotline Miami, one of the main factions in the game is the Russian Mafia, who are absurdly powerful in America during the 1980s and early 1990s, which shouldn't exactly happen considering that the Soviet Union is still strong (apparently even more than America) in that timeline.

In this game, the Mafia are the main antagonists and they've essentially usurped control of the Soviet government with their drugs. Thus, we can infer that in this timeline, the Mafia rise to power in Soviet Russia, rather than just The New Russia and have begun spreading their activities and drugs to America as well, or have only begun to operate there since Vlad's revolution manages to oust them in both endings.

(Of course things get complicated given the ending of the game and the fact that we don't know exactly what year it takes place in.)

Vlad is not actually a pacifist, and is a lot more unsavory character than he seems.
Vlad is already shown to merely be a "Pacifist" in name and personal behavior only. He turns a blind eye to whatever violent deeds the players commit, or the actions of his revolutionaries. While his desires for reform may be genuine, what he wants to reform Russia into might not be that much better than the current status quo. We simply don't see the results of his revolution's aftermath and subsequent regime in-game. He might make Bratva go away for good, but At what Cost?
