Sam, the girl on the cover of Hollow City, is still alive in the modern world and will play a part in defeating the wights.
The only evidence we have that she died in the war is speculation from Millard, and though he makes a good case for it (we don't know the extent of Sam's abilities and how much she can really walk away from) there is still no concrete proof that she really did die. It is possible that she simply went into hiding after the war was over, and she'll eventually reunite with Jacob and Emma, this time in Cool Old Lady form, and the wights aren't going to know what hit them.

Florence Nightingale was an ymbryne, and might be still alive.
Nightingale was a famous nurse during the Crimean War. Ymbrynes have last names that are names of bird species.The name Nightingale is self-explanatory. She could have faked her "death" in 1910, in order to hide from a wight.She might be alive in 1940, though old like Miss Avocet, and appear in a later book or film. However, failing that,I will be satisfied with a mention, at least.

Barron merely looking like Jake wouldn't fool one.
Voices might deceive a Hollow - we know they can hear, because they respond to verbal commands - but given the precision of their tentacle-attacks, it seems more probable that they possess
Bizarre Alien Senses to compensate for lack of eyesight, which
Barron's adopting Jake's form would not impair. Therefore, it's entirely plausible that
the creature knew who it was attacking, and deliberately murdered Barron in retaliation for how the chief wight's arrogant dismissal of the threat posed by the Peculiars (not to mention the guy's insane obsession with repeating the same experiment that'd royally screwed their cadre over, the first time they tried it!) had gotten every other member of their group killed. It wasn't fooled at all: it just figured it was better to
