Seb is not queer
So far, it seems like when Carlos's actor confirmed that he would have a romantic plotline, everyone assumes that Seb will be his love interest. Considering that we haven't seen much of Seb it could be possible that the other queer kid is a different member of the cast. It would be a nice subversion if it was someone like Big Red, as not every gay kid in high school is into musical theatre.- Jossed. Carlos and Seb enter a relationship in the show.
Ricky's mom had an affair
According to the timeline of when Ricky's parents officially separated, the man who picked up his mom's phone had only been dating her for two weeks. He seemed very comfortable doing so and talking to Ricky, more than you would expect for someone who was dating for such a short amount of time. A week later he flies all the way from Chicago to Salt Lake City just to see his girlfriend's son's high school play, which is another major time and money commitment. Considering that Ricky's mom has been traveling to Chicago since at least the summer, the two had likely been seeing each other for months at that point. The reason the second season is focused on a Beauty and the Beast musical is to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary.
As 2021 is the movie's 30th anniversary, and the season was stated to air in 2021. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! Musicals the Wildcats will perform in later seasons
- Grease: Miss Jenn will hail it as "the original High School Musical".
- Into the Woods: Seb mentions one of his cows is named Milky White - it could have been foreshadowing.
- Dear Evan Hansen: Despite Miss Jenn shutting it down when Seb suggests it due to the rights not being available, the characters might stage it anyway. The arc for the season would involve them trying to get away with such an illegal production, and gaining infamy similar to Illegal Heathers.
- Instead of an existing musical, Nini will write the stage adaption of a Disney property that doesn't yet have one.
Antoine the French foreign exchange student is not actually French
He just pretends to be for attention. Ricky got Gina the chocolates.
- In episode three of season 2, Gina received a heart-shaped box of chocolates that she thought were from Ricky. Because earlier in the episode, she and Ricky had talked about her missing her mom. Gina had told him that her mom usually gives her a stuffed beat for Valentines. And when Gina gave Ricky advice about Nini, she said, "Every girl loves a sweet gesture." to which he replied, "You'll get yours too."
- The one who left the chocolates at Gina's door wore a hoodie that looked a lot like the one Ricky had hanged near his front door earlier in the episode. Not to mention the fact that Ricky texted Gina right after she got the chocolates.
- Ricky/Gina shippers have since dubbed this theory as "The Chocolates Theory."
- I Knew It!: The chocolates theory was proven true when the creator Tim Federle posted the first draft of the script of the last moments of season three.
