Originally an Arcade Game for the first title in the Jaleco Mega System 1, it was ported to various home systems. It received a sequel called P-47 Aces in 1995. The game takes place in World War II, as you shoot planes, tanks, trains, etc.

P-47: The Phantom Fighter contains examples of:
- 1-Up: You can get a extra life if you shoot down a item-carrying helicopter or shoot an invisible space.
- Battleship Raid: The 4th and the final stage has this.
- Excuse Plot: It takes place in World War II obviously.
- One-Hit-Point Wonder: Player's plane is downed in one hit from any attack.
