"Simple, yet strategic JRPG turn-based battles."
— Screencap on the Google Play and Apple Store pages.
Brown Dust is a prequel to Brave Nine which was previously titled Brown Dust. It reduced the amount of party members to suit girds that are 3x4m but provides exploration on various maps such as towns and dungeons with it being determined which ones are safe from battles or not.

Svern is a continent which was ruled by the empire of Karian long in the past and was peaceful under a five-kingdom reign. But dark magic makes an ominous loom to bring the five kingdoms into a twisted fate while tensions lead to fires fueling a war and a horrific fiend targeting Lugo, a peaceful village.

  • Big Bad: Cocytus, the organization of Warlocks Justia is chasing after that aim to recreate the Blood Imprint and use its fearsome power to force the world on its knees.
  • Bittersweet Ending:
    • The first Story Pack "Knight of Blood" ends with Lathel killing the wicked sorcerer who posed as his parental figure and performed unethical experiments in secret, but his surrogate sister Misha is dead. However, he joins Justia in her journey after he became friends with her.
    • In the Nightmare Winter story, Morphea gets killed, ending her rule of the city but Ember gave her life ensuring her rule is stopped and a sidestory to the event reveals that there are Morphea loyalists who are still out there.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Unlike the first game, Brown Dust II corresponds the mercenaries by 5 elements, which deal bonus damage if they fight enemies with the opposing element. Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Water, Water beats Fire and Light and Dark deal bonus damage to each other.
  • Exposed to the Elements: The entire cast of the "Nightmare Winter" pack are definitely not equipped to lead a resistance with the sheer amount of skin being exposed to the biting cold winter by their paper thin layer outfits.
  • Fractured Fairy Tale: The Character Pack "Rou's Labyrinth" takes place in one, being a melting pot of fairy tale rejects including an obese Cinderella, an insomiac laden Sleeping Beauty, a straight-forward Pinnochio among others. Most of their problems can be traced back to the Magic Tree wilting and weakening their fantasys, to which Red Riding Hood sets out to fix with her friends the paranoid Snow White, enigmatic Robin Hood, and the sadistic Alice by going to the alleged Wicked Witch's gingerbread house to get her to undo her curse, except she isn't even the bad guy of the story.
  • Guest-Star Party Member:
    • Lathel and Justia encounter unlikely allies in the various Story Packs who can assist them in dealing with the warlock threat of the normal scenario by joining them as temporary party members. They can later join them for real through the gacha system or by signing valuable mercenary contracts in the pubs of their respective Story Packs.
    • The Character Packs possess a similar premise, though in this case, the entire party is temporary and cannot be switched out with regular members until the normal story is cleared.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In the Nightmare Winter story Ember gives her life ensuring Morphea was overthrown at the hands of Rou and the other three protagonists of the story.
  • High School AU: The Character Pack "Jayden's Gate" takes place in a high school setting. Strangely enough, unlike the other Character Packs the Kendo Club Justia playable here isn't actually native to this universe but was accidentally warped there during a warlock excursion and is trying to find her way back with Jayden's assistance.
  • Kill the Cutie: Despite the efforts of Lathel and company, his younger surrogate sister Misha still gets killed before the last fight of the Story Pack.
  • Lighter and Softer: Some of the Character Packs tend to take away from the growing bleakness of the main Story Packs by being more softer in comparison, though two of them; "Exodus" and "A Tale of Sword" are exceptions to the rule for being just as dark as the main story.
  • Ms. Fanservice: All the playable females in the game are a treat to the eyes, especially when wearing costumes that amplify their already sexy figures.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin:
    • Eclipse is a succubus with long hair partially colored black and very pale skin. She also is a woman with a very shapely figure.
    • Ventana in her Snow White costume fits the description quite aptly, bearing her namesake's fair skin and black hair.
  • Sensible Heroes, Skimpy Villains: Inverted in regard to Morpheah and three of the main protagonists in the Nightmare Winter story, the former is modestly endowed and reasonably dressed, but said protagonists are more buxom and revealing in regards to clothes. For Celia, she mostly plays the Playboy Bunny trope mostly straight, Eclipse; who has the biggest bust size of the story's protagonists, takes the Playboy Bunny trope and does a near-topless take on it with a thin cloth barely being enough to cover her breasts, and Dianna who wears a backless dress that not only bares her back and Sideboobs but also featured a gap in the back to show off her panties.
  • Stripperiffic:
    • Eleanor the fashion designer dons a strapless red and black top that does not cover her cleavage and a long skirt that barely covers the left side of her waist.
    • In her Nightmare Bunny outfit, Eclipse wears the lower half of a Playboy Bunny outfit and is topless save for a coat that plunges below her shoulders and back along with a a strapless thin cloth that goes around her back and barely covers the central portion of her massive breasts with no bridge on her cleavage.
    • In Diana's alternate outfit from the same line as Eclipse's above-mentioned bunny suit, it was revealing enough to show her back and Sideboobs, but she takes her backlessness another level by including a gap that bares her panties.
  • Worthless Treasure Twist: The Fire Chip that could have saved the world from its state turns out to be the equivalent of Hot Cheetos. The box did contain a message instructing the heroes on how to do so however.
