Trivia / You Rang, M'Lord?

Go To

  • The Cast Showoff: Felix Bowness (who occasionally played grocery delivery man Mr. Pearson) got a chance to show off his bird whistling skills in his final appearance, "Requiem for a Parrot".
  • Creator Couple: Mavis Pugh's husband John Clegg appeared on-screen with her as Mr. Franklyn in two episodes of Series 1.
  • Creator's Favourite Episode: Roy Gould's was "A Day in the Country". He had started on the series as the production manager, but by Series 3 had been promoted to director, and chose to direct the big picnic scene at the end of the episode as his first. Once he finished the scene, David Croft told Gould that he directed it just as he would have done, which stuck with Gould for the rest of the series.
  • Dawson Casting:
    • In Series 1, Henry mentions he is seventeen and a half. In Real Life, Perry Benson was almost double that age.
    • In Series 4, Poppy and Cissy argue whether Poppy is 25 or 26, whereas Susie Brann was 34.
    • Noël Coward was played by Guy Siner in "Royal Flush". When the episode was set, Coward would have been 28, whereas Siner was 43 at the time.
  • Troubled Production: The Pilot was filmed during a time of strikes, go-slows, and walk-outs, meaning the cast had to rehearse on unfinished sets and the sets were still lacking in furnishings when it came time for the recording.
  • Underage Casting:
  • What Could Have Been: John Banks (who had previously worked with David Croft in 'Allo 'Allo!) was offered an audition for the series but couldn't make it as he was busy with the theatre.
