Trivia / Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck

Go To

  • Out of Order: The Tournament Of Losers/Tournament Of Champions, the last five episodes taped, were not the last to air in first-run.
  • Recycled Set: Most of the set was recycled from the abysmal 2001 revival of Card Sharks, as was announcer Gary Kroeger.
  • Screwed by the Network: The only reason Game Show Network canned Whammy! (along with every other original show on the network save Lingo) in 2003 was because it was preparing to change over to the more reality-based GSN, which it did the following year.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • We'll sadly never know what direction the show could've gone in with Peter Tomarken at the helm.
    • The February 13, 2002 pilots featured a number of differences from the eventual series:
      • Round 1 gave each contestant three spins to work with, that they could press or pass at their leisure. “Freezing” was not an option, hitting a Whammy didn’t knock the player out of the round, the contestants took all their spins at once instead of going down the line, and no Whammies were added onto the board.
      • The question round featured the standard four questions of Press Your Luck instead of the five of the eventual series. Getting all twelve possible spins in this round earned the player a “Whammy Guard” that rendered the next Whammy hit null and void for that player.
      • The two-part “car key” mechanic was instead a two-part “GM” mechanic, with the “G” in the first board round and the “M” in the second. Getting both and winning the game won the contestant a Chevrolet Camaro. (This was probably dropped due to GM ceasing production of the Camaro around the same time.)
