Trivia / The Wizard of Id

Go To

  • The Merch: Wizard of Id did get two Edutainment Game titles in the 1980s. One was a typing title called Wiztype that taught typing along with speed and accuracy; the other was Wizmath, a game where you had to help Spook escape the king's dungeons by solving math problems.
  • Outlived Its Creator: Brant Parker and Johnny Hart died just over a week apart from each other in 2007; Brant had already passed art duties to his son Jeff a decade prior. Hart's grandson Mason Mastroianni took over as writer following Hart's death (as he would on B.C.), and also became the artist after the younger Parker quit in 2015.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Jim Henson actually developed a Muppet adaptation of Wizard of Id. He even made a short pilot in 1969. It's available on YouTube.
    • Paul Williams claims that Columbia wanted to produce a live-action Wizard of Id film with him as the king back in The '80s. In spite of negotiations with Johnny Hart himself, Paul alleges the scandals of David Begelman cancelled the project.
