• The Cast Showoff: Kira Kosarin is an accomplished dancer, demonstrated by Phoebe's participation in ballet. And while not all of the moves were done by Jack Griffo (mostly the flips), much of Max's spectacular performance in the dance-off in "Going Wonkers" was.
  • They're also both singers and musicians, as demonstrated by Phoebe's choir audition in "Pretty Little Choirs" and Max's band. Both Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo have released music of their own.
• Dawson Casting: Phoebe is older than Max by 20 seconds, but Jack Griffo is older than Kira Kosarin by 10 months.
• Dueling Shows: With Mighty Med.
• Fanwork Ban: Kira Kosarin disapproves◊ of Phoebe/Max shipping as they are brother and sister.
• Irony as She Is Cast: If Kira Kosarin was as bad an actress as Phoebe in "Kiss Me, Nate," the show would be in deep trouble.
• Playing Against Type: Sarah, the nerdy girl with a crush on Max, is played by the same actress as the Alpha Bitch from Kirby Buckets.
• Throw It In!: Most of Max and Phoebe's "teammate celebration handshake" in "Revenge Of The Smith" is actually a handshake that Jack Griffo and Kira Kosarin have had together since the first season. Everything up to Max's "still not done" is from their real life handshake.
• Vindicated by Reruns: While this show was popular in its' first run, it wasn't as successful as Nick's other tweencoms. In the early 2020's, it would see a big boom in popularity when Netflix got the rights, to the point where more children streamed it than SpongeBob SquarePants!
