- Breakaway Pop Hit: The fittingly-titled "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson, which was originally released on the second film's soundtrack, became a hit on its own.
- The Cast Showoff:
- Broadway legend Julie Andrews and Disney pop star Raven-Symoné (in the second) get to show off their vocals.
- Joel McCrary, who plays Prime Minister Motaz, gets to show off his singing chops during the coronation.
- Franchise Killer: Julie Andrews said a third movie was planned, but the critical disappointment of the second put a halt to those plans. Anne Hathaway was also thought to be too old to reprise her role as Mia. A third film was again announced in 2016 but shelved once again upon Garry Marshall's death. Though according to Julie Andrews and Meg Cabot, the film may still happen as a tribute to Marshall.
- One-Take Wonder: The song "Your Crowning Glory", was the first time Julie Andrews had sung in public, or on-screen since she had throat surgery in 1997. She reportedly nailed the song on the first take and brought tears to the eyes of the crew present.
- Real-Life Relative:
- Julie Andrews' granddaughter Hannah plays one of the princesses mattress surfing.
- Brother and sister Spencer and Abigail Breslin have small roles; Spencer as Prince Jacques and Abigail as Carolina, an orphan girl in the parade.
- Twin brothers Paul Vogt and Peter Allen Vogt play twin brothers Lord Crowley and Lord Crowley's brother.
- Troubled Production: While a minor case, Héctor Elizondo has stated that (for undisclosed reasons) the beginning of filming for the sequel kept getting postponed, ultimately conflicting with Hector's role on the short-lived series Century City, forcing him to constantly travel from the locations for the film to the locations for the series.
