Trivia / The Married Couple of the Year Two

Go To

  • California Doubling: Many scenes set in France and South Carolina were actually shot in Romania.
  • Fake Nationality: Laura Antonelli was Italian and played a French noblewoman.
  • Hostility on the Set: Jean-Paul Belmondo and Marlène Jobert didn't get along at all on set.
  • Romance on the Set: Jean-Paul Belmondo had an affair with Laura Antonelli (who played Pauline de Guérande, and she was married at the time) on the set. He was with Ursula Andress at the time, and broke up with her soon afterwards to be with Antonelli.
  • Same Language Dub: Laura Antonelli's lines were dubbed, since her Italian accent wouldn't have worked with her character, the French Pauline.
  • Troubled Production: Filming in Romania took longer than expected, stretching from June to December 1970 while about one month was originally scheduled there. It was partly due to difficult communication with locals due to the Language Barrier (the locals didn't understand French and the crew didn't speak Romanian).
  • Wag the Director: Belmondo had a Romance on the Set with Laura Antonelli and tried to have her role expanded, to no avail since it would have reduced that of Marlène Jobert (who was angry because of these attempts).
