Trivia / The 7th Company

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: The trilogy (or the first film at least) is still popular enough to be broadcast at least twice a year in prime time on TF1 or such channels well into the 2020s, which is remarkable for such older films, especially since they star neither Louis de Funès nor the Splendid' group (which are the only other kinds of French comedies from The '70s to still attract such high viewership nowadays).
  • Directed by Cast Member: Robert Lamoureux directed the films and played Colonel Blanchet in them.
  • Fake Nationality:
    • The Italian Aldo Maccione as the French Tassin. Maccione made the bulk of his career in France.
    • The French Rudy Lenoir as the German warrant officer was a borderline case. He was born German in Alsace in 1913 when the region was part of Imperial Germany, then became French in 1918. Being from Alsace also meant he was German during World War II when the area was reannexed, this time by Nazi Germany, from summer 1940 to late 1944.
  • Hostility on the Set: For the first film, Aldo Maccione didn't get along well with the director, Robert Lamoureux (Maccione was fun-loving and tended to joke a lot with the crew, which distracted them too much for Lamoureux's taste - Lamoureux was professionnal and serious). One day, Maccione got angry at Lamoureux for berating him, left the set and walked several kilometers (still wearing his costume) through the forest to find a phone and complain to Gaumont producer Alain Poiré (who reportedly had never witnessed such a thing in his long career). This is one of the reasons Maccione didn't come back for the sequel.
  • The Other Darrin: Aldo Maccione played Tassin in the first film. He demanded more money to return since the first film was a big hit (in addition to his beef with the director detailed in Hostility on the Set) and was replaced by Henri Guybet.
  • You Look Familiar: Robert Dalban played a farmer in the first film and Colonel Bricart in the second film.
