Trivia / Strife

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: Strife saw a rise of interest after Ross's Game Dungeon covered it in one episode.
  • Dummied Out: Going through the .wad files reveals several unused resources, such as graphics for a gas grenade and some bits of voice acting that were never used.
  • In Memoriam: The music test in Veteran Edition has one to Morey Goldstein, the game's composer, who passed away from a brain tumour in 2008.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Ever since Rogue Entertainment went of out business, the game became abandonware with many file-sharing sites trying to keep a copy of the game available.
    • Rescued: On mid-December 2014, Night Dive Studios picked up the publishing rights to the game and re-released it via Steam. In 2016, it also finally got a GOG re-release.
  • Manual Misprint: The manual describes the Reaver enemy as being "VERY fast," saying that blasting the area with explosives may be the only effective way to destroy them. In-game, they're faster than most enemies, but not by much. The Demons in the original Doom are a lot faster.
  • Market-Based Title: The game's full title is "Strife: Quest for the Sigil" (or "The Original Strife: Veteran Edition" in the re-release), not "Strife: Trust No One" as the box art might lead you to assume (and as the GameFAQs walkthrough erroneously calls it). Although in the Veteran Edition, the full game is called "Quest for the Sigil" and the demo game "Trust No One". To add to the confusion, one of the achievements in the Veteran Edition is also called "Trust No One".
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: For a while, the Steam version was named The Original Strife, since a MOBA of the same name got the rights to the title. The MOBA quickly died and was delisted, and the name for the FPS was changed back to Strife.
