  • Approval of God: Keiichi Momose, the anime's sound director, admitted that he was impressed with the English cast in a behind-the-scenes interview.
  • Creator Killer: For Otomo's directorial career (though he's remained an active writer and mangaka).
  • Crossdressing Voices: Ray is voiced by women in both the original Japanese (Anne Suzuki) and the dub (Anna Paquin).
  • Directed by Cast Member: In the English dub, Rick Zieff was the ADR director as well as Simon's voice actor.
  • Duelling Movies: With Spider-Man 2, also a superhero movie with a kid/teen protagonist and with Alfred Molina as the Big Bad that was distributed by Sony.
  • Extremely Lengthy Creation: The film took 10 years to produce, with some delays and a lot of painstaking 180,000 drawings and 440 CG cuts in the production.
  • Fake Brit: Anna Paquin, who voiced Ray in the English dub, was born in Canada and raised in New Zealand.
  • Uncredited Role: Though the American theatrical release credits the voice cast and crew for the English dub, the DVD and digital releases retain the Japanese end credits, leaving the entire voice cast uncredited.
