- Early Draft Tie-In: The special was originally intended to tie in with the ultimately-cancelled Sonic X-treme, originally going under the title of An X-Tremely Sonic Christmas. Despite the change in title and promotion, the special still ends with Sonic wishing the viewer "an X-tremely Merry Christmas".
- No Export for You: This is the only episode in the series not to be dubbed nor aired in Spain.
- The Other Darrin:
- Tails is voiced by Chris Turner, instead of Christopher Stephen Welch, due to the latter's voice changing.
- Princess Sally has no lines aside from gasps and moans. Sally's voice actress, Kath Soucie, was under contractual obligations to voice Lola Bunny in Space Jam at the time. Her lines were written out, and Tabitha St. Germain provided her vocal effects in this special.
- In the Mexican Spanish dub of this episode only, Sonic was voiced by Sergio Gutiérrez Coto, who voiced him in the Mexican Spanish dub of the second season of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM), instead of Jorge Roig Jr., who voiced Sonic in the the main Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog series proper.
