Trivia / Sea of Thieves

• Creator Backlash: Ron Gilbert wasn't happy about not being contacted by either Rare/Microsoft or by Lucasfilm Games/Disney regarding the Monkey Island content coming to Sea of Thieves. While the latter owns the Monkey Island IP, it's generally agreed that Ron at least deserved that courtesy, especially with the recent release of Return fresh in fans' minds and Role Reprise below.
• In Memoriam: The "Glitterbeard" questline, in honor of data analyst James White, an employee of Rare who sadly died in 2020.
• Role Reprise:
  • Kevin R. McNally returns as Joshamee Gibbs from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Meanwhile, Jared Butler and Robin Atkin Downes reprise their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones from previous Pirates tie-in material, most recently Kingdom Hearts III.
  • The cinematic trailer for the "Legend of Monkey Island" expansion indicates that the majority of the cast from Return to Monkey Island and the Special Editions will be returning, most prominently Dominic Armato as Guybrush, Jess Harnell as LeChuck, Leilani Jones as the Voodoo Lady, Gavin Hammon as Stan, and Denny Delk as Murray.
• What Could Have Been: Originally players who fell off their ships would be returned by Belle emerging from the sea on an enchanted bouy, but this was changed to rescue by mermaids and mermen. Belle’s bouy would eventually show up in the Adventures.
