Trivia / Run the Jewels

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: While the duo already had a prominent fanbase in the 2010s, Run the Jewels received a massive spike in popularity after Killer Mike's speech to Black Lives Matter protesters in 2020 went viral, combined with the release of RTJ 4. On top of that, the album's already politically charged messages regarding police brutality resonated much more given that George Floyd had died at the hands of a police officer around that time, which sparked a massive outcry to reform them. They have also garned extra publicity from video games, as their songs have appeared in titles like Battlefield Hardline, Need for Speed (2015), and Watch_Dogs 2.
  • Special Guest: Many other famous rappers and singers have appeared on their records. In particular, Zach de la Rocha has appeared on three of their four studio albums.
    • RTJ 2: Gangsta Boo, Boots, Travis Barker, and Diane Coffee.
    • RTJ 3: Danny Brown, Joi, Boots (again), Trina, Kasami Washington, and Tunde Adebimpe.
    • RTJ 4: 2 Chainz, Greg Nice, DJ Premiere, Gangsta Boo (again), Pharrell Williams, Mavis Staples, and Josh Homme.
  • Uncredited Role:
    • Zach de la Rocha's appearance on RTJ 3, as the last verse on the entire album, is uncredited. His voice can be heard in the background of the hook, Five-Second Foreshadowing his surprise appearance.
    • As mentioned above, Gangsta Boo was not credited for her performance in "walking in the snow" on RTJ 4. Quite strange too, given she was credited in RTJ 2's "Love Again".
