  • Bonus Material: Temple of Thought Bonus Edition has three extra tracks. Two are new Unplugged Versions of prior tracks: love song "Temple of Thought" and Love Nostalgia Song "Skin." The third is a new song, Follow Your Heart anthem "Signs of Life," which shares a title with their first full album.
  • Breakaway Pop Hit:
    • "Late Goodbye" was originally recorded for Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, based on a poem written by the game's lead writer after a dream he once had. The game itself didn't sell too well, despite critical acclaim and cult status, but the song wound up becoming the band's breakout hit, both in Finland and abroad.
    • "Lift" made waves after its inclusion in benchmark software 3DMark.
    • "War" from Alan Wake also enjoyed similar exposure, helped by a video that is essentially a Live-Action Adaptation of scenes from the game.
  • Enforced Method Acting: In the video for "Carnival of Rust" Zoltar's misery and desperation to escape his fortuneteller's case reflects singer Marko Saaresto's suffering through sweltering heat and migraine-inducing oxygen deprivation while inside. Life further imitated art, as the crackled-paint makeup was severely drying out his skin for real during the overlong shoot, resulting in the loss of his eyebrows and necessitating heavy use of moisturizer to counteract the damage.
  • Executive Meddling: Defied. The band founded their own record label, Insomniac, to avoid this.
  • No Export for You:
    • Their albums tend to be released only in countries around Finland, although Carnival of Rust was also released in Australia. Fortunately, they’re all available on iTunes and can be imported (at some cost) via Amazon.
    • Best of Poets of the Fall, a Greatest Hits Album, is exclusive to India.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Sam Lake, as per Remedy tradition, the Poets song "The Labyrinth" was to be included in Quantum Break, but shared contractual red tape held up the deal until time ran out.
