Trivia / Pilot Candidate

Go To

  • Bonus Episode: The anime has a thirteenth episode OVA which retells the events of the TV series from the perspective of the Goddess candidate Ernest Cuore. It was not released in North America until 2016, unlike the rest of the series.
  • Franchise Killer: While it wasn't a blockbuster, Candidate for Goddess was actually a fairly popular manga when it was first released, slowly gaining something of a large cult following by subsequent volumes. However, the very poorly-received anime adaptation, plus the over a year long wait between the fourth and fifth volumes of the manga, placed the series in obscurity and its vastly unfinished state it is today.
  • Network to the Rescue: Discotek Media licensed the series in 2016 that includes the OVA that never was released in the West prior. Later on, both the sub and dub would make onto Crunchyroll and can be viewed here.
  • The Other Darrin: The infamous English dub has three separate actors for the enigmatic Dr. Crow Revoard. Paul St. Peter voiced him in the premiere, Pete Sepenuk in episode 2, and finally ADR director Wilfred Clyde Isanote  in the last installment.
  • What Could Have Been: Before making it's American debut on Adult Swim, the anime was originally planned to premiere on Cartoon Network's Toonami block.
