• Real-Life Relative: The original cast was April Fossen, Mark Fossen, and Susanna Florence. April and Mark — who play Abigail and Jacob — are married.
• Write What You Know: Inverted Trope. The play was born of a late-night conversation the author had with her friend (both of them Mormon) where they came up with the question: "What would it take for you to stop being a Mormon?" Her answer was if they brought back polygamy, that would be her breaking point. Then she proceeded to write a play about people for whom it's not a breaking point.
  Larson: A good friend and I had a late night conversation several years ago. We got deep and philosophical and we thought we were really smart, and we were asking ourselves really deep questions. One of the questions we asked was, "What would it take to not be Mormon anymore? Where would you draw the line?" And I think it's an interesting question to think about, because that's something I try to do with character all the time is make them toe a line. It's really important to push characters to the edge because that's when they make interesting choices... I thought it only fair that I ask myself the same question I would put to a character, which is where would I draw the line?
