Trivia / Orphan: First Kill

• California Doubling: Set in Connecticut, with a few scenes in Estonia and Russia, but filmed entirely in Winnipeg, Canada.
• Channel Hop: While Warner Bros. produced the first film and distributed it in North America and France, Paramount Pictures is distributing this film (in the US) through its Paramount Players label (with Dark Castle Entertainment producing both).
• Dawson Casting: An extreme example. Isabelle Fuhrman is reprising her role as Esther, despite now being 25 years old (though it makes sense since she is closer to Leena's real age). According to director William Brent Bell, they didn't use a lot of digital effects to do this, instead using makeup, forced perspective, and a body double for certain shots.
• Scully Box: Used for the opposite purpose than usual. As Isabelle Fuhrman is now over a decade older than she was in the first movie, she has since grown to 5'3". According to her Instagram posts, many of her costars wore humongous platform shoes to boost their height whenever shooting a scene with her to make her look as tiny as she needs to be.
• Sequel Gap: Comes out 13 years after Orphan.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Isabelle Fuhrman initially intented to only make a cameo in the film while casting a new child actress as Esther. However, Fuhrman was ultimately convinced by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to reprise the role herself.
  • This movie was originally titled Esther.
