Trivia / Octopath Traveler II

Go To

  • Author's Saving Throw: One of the biggest criticisms of the previous game was the lack of interaction between the party members outside brief one-on-one discussions during chapters and the post-game tavern events. Square Enix's announcement press release explicitly points this out, with Octopath Traveler II having more interactions between the party members as well as additional stories between certain characters. This was also pointed out consistently during the game's pre-release media cycle.
  • Blooper: In Hikari's "Upbringing" Party Chat, Agnea's name is misspelled as "Angea".
  • Channel Hop: Unlike the original game, Nintendo is not publishing the game outside of Japan, and the game is seeing a multiplatform release, as opposed to the first game being a timed exclusive on Nintendo Switch.
  • Playing Against Type: Alejandro Saab is usually typecast as energetic young men or sarcastic but still young sounding character. So fans were shocked to hear that he not only plays Osvald, a troubled man nearing middle age who desires revenge, but the deep, grizzled, gravely voice he uses for him is virtually unrecognizeable from his other works.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: With the exception of the main cast, the game doesn't specify who the other characters' voice actors are. The only confirmation are via Gematsu news posts on the game.
  • You Look Familiar:
    • Erica Mendez, voice of Throné, previously voiced Lianna from the first game.
    • Cristina Valenzuela, voice of Mahina and Laila, previously voiced Ophilia from the first game.
    • Sean Chiplock, voice of Pirro, previously voiced Werner and Darius from the first game.
