Trivia / Nerf Brand

  • Bad Export for You: Due to strict firearm laws, some of the N-Strike Elite blasters that were released in both Australia and Thailand got nerfed with reduced power, and as such, are marked with grey triggers. While some only had shorter-range estimates due to incomplete product testing and functioned as well as in the rest of the world, others were genuinely weaker.
  • Mascot: In summer of 2022, Nerf announced their mascot, Murph, a human-shaped agendered creature made of thousands of foam darts. Some found Murph adorable, and others found them downright terrifying.
  • No Export for You:
    • Nerf blasters are difficult to find outside the U.S., and their accessories are as rare as fertilizer in the Gobi desert.
    • Canada does pretty well with Nerf stuff, though the Alpha Trooper was a Zellers exclusive—at a time when Zellers was closing up shop all over the country.
    • For some time, there were plans for releasing the Pinpoint sight in Elite colors in the US. Despite this, they're available pretty much anywhere else. It eventually got re-issued as part of the Modulus series but in different colors.
    • The RIVAL blasters are not available in Australian stores since they don't pass the safety standards.
  • Short Run in Peru:
    • In the US, the Raider got a late release. It came out earlier in Australia—Australia—due to a shipping mishap. Toy shipments have been known to reach Proxima Centauri before they get to Australia. And Singapore seems to be getting them before they hit the US, too.
    • The Stockade, originally released in August 2012, didn't show up in the U.S. until September 2013. On top of this, it was a Walmart exclusive.
  • What Could Have Been: Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Van Robichaux revealed on Twitter that he had pitched a Nerf movie to Hasbro but was turned down. His idea was to make a completely straight action movie with a lead like Dwayne Johnson or Chris Hemsworth, except everyone is shooting Nerf guns at each other.
