• Box Office Bomb: After sitting on the shelf for almost a year, it got dumped out to theaters suddenly where it only brought in $2 million on its $14 million budget, and was in theaters for less than two weeks.
• Dawson Casting: Stephanie Nelson and her boyfriend Carl, who were supposed to be around late high school/early college aged, were both played by actors in their mid-late 20's.
• Deleted Scene: The American release cut out a scene of Semage professing her love for Dick, and while he remains faithful to Marge he does give her a kiss.
• Executive Meddling: According to Jon Lovitz, the film was "reedited for kids" and this is what caused it to flop.
• Making Use of the Twin: Don Stanton and Dan Stanton once again play twins, as they did in such films as Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
• Playing Against Type: Jeffrey Jones plays a more actively heroic character. His usual role is a befuddled authority type.
