  • Author Appeal: Shuma-Gorath to this day is an extremely obscure villain who's barely appeared in over 50 issues since debuting 1974, and his nemesis Doctor Strange didn't appear in the series until Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in 2011. Yet, he's been part of the series since 1997, tangling with the others since Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. The reason? The dev team were doing research on characters, happened by Shuma-Gorath, and decided they liked his design so much that they just had to include him.

  • Fan Nickname: Strider Hiryu's actual name is Hiryu. That said, most just call him Strider.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": As Marvel Comics' namesake medium (comics) were never popular in Japan (the majority of them were never published there, either), this is naturally how people in said nation feel about several Marvel characters when they appear in any Marvel-licensed game made by Capcom. The only ones who avert this are heroes who are really popular to begin with, such as Spider-Man. The same goes for some of the more obscure Capcom picks for fans in the West.
