- California Doubling: Aside from the opening sequence, climax, and odd establishing shots, the film was mostly filmed in Los Angeles.
- Cast the Expert:
- Actor Robert Z'Dar was employed as a Chicago Police officer, among other professions (including singer in a punk rock band and Chippendales dancer, the latter could explain why Z'Dar had no issue in doing the Full-Frontal Assault shower attack flashback scene in the first film).
- The coroner was played by Lustig's real-life doctor Barry Brenner.
- Creator Backlash: Bruce Campbell admits that he only did the film because he needed work. He also admits that the film wasn't any good.
- No Stunt Double: Bruce Campbell was eager to do his own stunts, including the one where he's hanging from a moving truck.
- Real-Life Relative: Jill Gatsby is Larry Cohen's daughter and is killed in every one of his movies that she's in.
- What Could Have Been: Plans for a fourth film, which would've involved Cordell's spirit possessing a rookie cop assigned his old badge number, were apparently bounced around.
