Trivia / Louis Tomlinson

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: "Written All Over Your Face" became popular on TikTok shortly after the release of Faith in the Future, particularly among people who were not previously familiar with Louis' music, despite not being a single or promoted in any way. The funky sensual vibe of the song, especially when he sings "hey babe", came as a surprise to many people.
  • Creator Backlash: He admitted he didn't really care for "Perfect Now" and implied it wasn't him who wanted it on the album. It's the only track from Walls he didn't perform on his first tour.
  • Creator Breakdown: Most notably "Miss You", which he admitted is "about a time in my life when I was going out partying every night. In hindsight throughout that time, I was pretty numb and just going through the motions."
  • Cut Song: In summer 2022, a bunch of unreleased songs were leaked, including "Holiday", "All Along", and "The Way I Do", many of which seem to have been written in 2017 or 2018. Louis said he did not have plans to release them as they were written about specific moments in time that he felt were no longer relevant to his then forthcoming album Faith in the Future.
  • Rarely Performed Song: "Miss You" was the last single Louis released in 2017 before his original debut album seemingly got shelved. Despite introducing his rockier sound, the song did not make it onto Walls and has barely been acknowledged since. It stands out even more because Louis continued performing rock renditions of "Just Hold On" and "Back to You". That said, he hasn't performed "Just Like You" since either.
  • Screwed by the Network: Although Louis himself has never directly stated what happened or why (possibly for legal reasons, but he has thrown subtle shade, such as in the "Just Like You" lyric video), it is not a secret that he has had bad experiences with labels, to the point where industry figures were congratulating him when he left Syco in 2020. He has said even just getting his debut album off the ground was so frustrating, he considered leaking it himself at one point. When it came to his second album, his new team at BMG later implied that Sony were blocking his music from radio stations such as the BBC.
  • Shrug of God: Louis made a point of being coy with what the songs on Faith in the Future are about, as he wanted people to have their own interpretations, that what others take away from the music, how it moves them, is what matters.
  • What Could Have Been: Louis was originally set to release his debut album in late 2017 or 2018, but a number of external factors from the label to personal loss continuously delayed it. In the meantime, he switched genres from electronic to rock – one can ponder what an album fresh off his early singles might have looked like. This "lost" album is sometimes referred to by fans as LT0.
  • Write What You Know: Louis has said that every song on Walls is based on a real experience he had. However, for Faith in the Future, which was mostly written in lockdown, he delved into more imaginative storytelling. Take "Chicago" for example, which he said is partly imaginative and partly based on real events.
