• Actor Leaves, Character Dies: Tyler ends up killed off in a memorable car accident with Corky as a passenger.
• The Cast Showoff:
  • Libby being played by Broadway singer Patti LuPone is a good example
  • On The Other Wiki, the theme song is credited as being sung by "Patti LuPone and the cast of Life Goes On"
• Creator Backlash: Patti LuPone disliked playing Libby Thatcher, finding her to be unrealistically submissive. She blamed the writers for never figuring out how to effectively write for the character.
• Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Chris Burke, who played Corky, actually has Down's Syndrome, as did Andrea Friedman, who played his girlfriend and eventual wife Amanda.
• Hostility on the Set: Patti LuPone (Libby) and Bill Smitrovich (Drew) hated each other. LuPone claims Smitrovich was a bully who tried directing other cast members, while Smitrovich claims LuPone was angry that she wasn’t the true star of the show, and thus went out of her way to make everyone around her unhappy. The only thing they agree on in their respective versions of events is the fact they didn’t get along.
  • As recounted in Patti’s memoir, her dislike for Bill began at their first joint audition. During the several hours they spent together, Bill rubbed her shoulders to help her relax, which made her uncomfortable but she said nothing to him. Perhaps if she had spoken up then, she would have saved herself and Bill a lot of drama. Bill did say that he thought their audition went well, but had no idea why Patti disliked him. He tried to get along with her but in the end, the tension was so palpable that they were no longer speaking off-set by season 4. This dislike is very obvious when you watch them onscreen. Arguably a very sad situation indeed because many viewers felt they were perfect as Drew and Libby.
