• The Danza: Brandon Lee plays Brandon Ma, and Michael Wong plays Michael Wan.
• Fake Nationality: The Russian is played by a South African.
• Fake Nationality: The Cubans are played by South Africans, and Herr Doktor Braun is played by an Italian-American.
• Mid-Development Genre Shift: Ronny Yu wanted this to be a martial arts film, but Brandon Lee didn't want to be compared to his father, so it became more of a Heroic Bloodshed film.
• Playing Against Type: Michael Wong is usually the go-to guy for playing sidekicks, the main character's buddies, or some degree of supporting character. Even in his more villainous roles, he's either a Flat Character, or Affably Evil at worst. But here he displays some serious acting chops portraying the most utterly disgusting and despicable role in his entire career.
