Trivia / KikoRiki Animated Films

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Aleksey Lebedev, screenwriter for many episodes of the original show, was quite negative of Team Invincible. While he wrote the script for this movie as far back as 2005 and the final cut barely changed anything from it, he didn't like the execution, thinking it was less about "the conflict between man and civilization" as it was planned, and more about "idiots in the city", where it's hard to sympathize with or laugh at the protagonists.
  • Deleted Scene: Team Invincible had several scenes that didn't make it into the final cut, but explain few things, such as:
    • Barry pays a visit to a Lighthouse Ministry, where it's revealed that the KikoRiki island had a contact with the city long time ago, but eventually lost it, and their lighthouse wasn't dismantled, if only because the island had no ships visiting it for over 10 years.
    • The protagonists are set up to work on the variety of jobs as part of the "Good Deeds" operation, the purpose of which was to secretely help others. Dokko was shown working on in the cinema, Olga was a Floor Cleaner and Carlin inflates car tires. In the final cut only Krash, Rosa and Wally are seen working on-screen and their employment comes out of nowhere, with only Wally's being explained as having been hired by Boss' orders.
  • Dueling Movies: Legend of the Golden Dragon was released in Russia a few weeks before Sheep & Wolves which has a similar moral and also involves a character accidentally turned into something else trying desperately to change back before it's too late.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Dnevnic.ru website held the "Kikoriki in the City" contest, prior to the release of Team Invincible. Artwork by the winners was featured in that movie's closing credits.
  • Viral Marketing: At least in Russia, the marketing of Team Invincible was insane. It ranged from simple trailers and posters parodying superhero blockbusters to more crazy things, such as ''Angry Balls'' and ''Kikoriki Combats'', a viral videos parodying Angry Birds and Mortal Kombat (The latter is especially weird, since KikoRiki franchise tends to avoid physical violence, which is fully present here, blood and all), a collaboration with a Russian parody TV show ''Big Difference'' and a parody of a presidential speech that presidents of Russia make each new year starring Krash. note
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Dokko was originally the star of Legend of the Golden Dragon, but it was decided that Wally fits the role better.
    • Lara was going to be voiced by a Celebrity Voice Actor Marina Fedunkiv in Russian. According to Denis Chernov, her performance "didn't feel right" and the role instead went to Elena Shulman, who voiced several characters in the series prior.
    • In 2018, Dmitry Yakovenko shared an early draft for Deja Vu. The initial idea was to have Krash accidentally destroy Barry's house at his birthday party, which others decide to replace with an actual castle, and Krash calls the Deja Vu agency to go back in time and fix his mistake. When Agent Mole (who was more sympathetic in the draft than in the final product) teleports KikoRiki back in time, he would be forced to erase their memories and leave them in the past due to unexpected error in the system. This would have enraged Krash and made him follow Mole to their agency before getting the remote and travelling to Mesozoic Era. Shark would have still been a more competent version of Krash that spent years in Mesozoic, but he was originally portrayed as someone who already experienced the whole adventure before, and tries to reset everything back to the way it was before. He also came up with this name on his own, instead of being called such by Krash. Chiko would turn out to be a time paradox and was going to be the last one found in waste-incenerating factory, where Mole was forced to work as a janitor after being demoted, Pin, Rosa and Carlin would have ended up the 17th century and became pirates (in the final version, they are simply teleported to the Wild West desert and are thus immediately found by other heroes) among many other differences from the final movie.
  • You Look Familiar:
    • William Hackett-Jones is a cross-regional example. His original contribution to the series was for the Russian version of New Adventures as a voice for a Notary woodpecker in "The Inheritance". He would then provide the voice for the English versions of films as the Narrator in Golden Dragon and Pin, Mole and Shark in Deja Vu.
    • While all three films have Peter Linz as the English voice of Krash, the other voice actors who provided his voice at some point were cast as the other characters. Dan Green, who voiced Eugene in Team Invincible, previously voiced Krash (then known as PogoRiki) in GoGoRiki, the 4Kids Entertainment dub of the show, while Billy Bob Thompson, who voiced Alec in Legend of the Golden Dragon, provides the voice in the FUN Union dub.
