- Colbert Bump: Chances are, anyone born in the late 1990s and beyond probably knows this show only because of the music video that plays on Boomerang and/or their crossover episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
- Follow the Leader:
- In terms of its place in the Hanna-Barbera order, this show's plots are in the same style as Josie and the Pussycats. The Neptunes are a traveling band that always gets mixed up in some kind of Evil Plan.
- The show also makes use of chase sequences with music over it much like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! did in its second season along with both Josie series.
- As for the characters, they are similar to some previous characters both from Josie and Scooby-Doo. Biff takes Fred's place, while Clamhead and Jabber fill the Shaggy and Scooby roles. (Clamhead even looks like Shaggy.) However, instead of using the Scooby templates, the girls opt for ones from the Josie template with Shelly being like Alexandra and Bubbles being like Melody.
- What Could Have Been: Director James Gunn says that he was pitched a script for a live-action/CGI blend Jabberjaw film in the early 2000s, but turned it down.
