Trivia / HoloCure

Go To

  • Actor-Inspired Element:
    • Fubuki herself suggested to Kay Yu that her game counterpart be made to use her tail as a weapon. She also provided ideas for the designs of the Sukon-bu/Friends enemy type encountered in the Hololive offices stage. note
  • Approval of God:
    • The actual Hololive members themselves went ahead and played HoloCure after getting permission and got addicted, with the first member to schedule playing it (that the developer noticed) actually being God, a.k.a. Matsuri.
    • Kiara used the game's character sprites as background visuals on the dance stage during her 2022 birthday celebration.
    • Starting with v0.6 the game will be available to download on Steam, with Cover having given the dev team their blessing.
    • In an interview with Koefficient, Kay Yu reveals that five hours after launching the first demo of the game, a staff member from Hololive was asking for permission for the talents to play the game.
    • In regards to the new Sausage Legend weapon revealed with Kaela's teaser, Kay Yu revealed that Sausage Legend dev Milk Co. Ltd. gave their permission to use it as a direct reference.
  • Colbert Bump: While the original release was not unknown by any stretch of the imagination, the official release of build 0.6 on Steam gave the game a massive exposure to audiences who weren't partial to the Vtuber scene, with an especially big bump courtesy of Asmongold, who was one of several major contributors to its rise in popularity among outside circles after playing it on stream.
  • Disowned Adaptation: A Game Mod featuring Pipkin Pippa had it and its creator disavowed by Kay Yu after it was revealed they used a decompiled version of 0.6 that was accidentally pushed to Steam to create it. This also led to him clarifying his stance on mods in general, taking a neutral position but adding that the fan works policy makes official support too dangerous to add regardless.
  • Doing It for the Art: Kay Yu categorically refuses any donation to him in support of the game, stating that while he appreciates the sentiment, he doesn't want money to influence his work on the game in any way (even after COVER established Holo Indie on November 15th, 2023, opening the option for it), as it is a personal project made by a fan, for fans.
  • God Never Said That: Before 0.6, there were some assumptions that all stage music had to be strictly picked from the Bouquet album. However, with id:entity and Myth or Treat remixed into Stage 4 and Stage 3 Hard respectively, the only major rule had to be that the songs had to be group songs, although as seen in What Could Have Been, there are some cases where some music choices were shot down by Cover themselves.
  • Meaningful Release Date: Version 0.6 was set to be released at August 17, 2023, coinciding with Indonesian Independence Day. Befitting of an update that would be focusing on Hololive ID.
  • Schedule Slip: Version 0.5 was clearly supposed to be released around Halloween 2022, but ended up being pushed back to February 10, 2023 due to Kay Yu having multiple unavoidable work-related commitments to focus on after version 0.4 released. Lampshaded by Kay Yu:
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: To remain compliant with Cover's fan works policy, official mod support for the game cannot be developed.
  • Trolling Creator:
    • The announcement of the game's arrival to Steam was written and formatted in a way that could be easily confused for an announcement of the game's end.
    • Calli discovers that several pieces of the HoloHouse furniture are designed such that you cannot properly centralize their alignment, leaving all of them off-center. While she's getting driven up the wall by this and some of her audience is speculating that this is to mess with Hololive, Kay Yu chimes in on this stream with a superchat containing only a smiley face that all but confirms that this is intentional.
    • Before Kaela started her v0.6 Early Access stream, Kay Yu prompted her to check out the HoloHouse collection for an item dedicated to her. Amidst things like a Kroni Clock that costs 200,000 gold or a Shark Plush that costs 300,000 gold, the dedicated item is Completionist Grass going at 1 gold, indirectly telling her to play the game a little less and "go touch grass"~~i.e., go outside. That backfired in turn, because Kaela placed the grass decorations inside her HoloHouse so she has no need to go outside.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Eufrik, the composer of the game's music, wanted to use "Kirameki Rider" as a game over/victory theme or even as BGM but due to Cover Corp restricting its use in fan projects he opted to use "Yumemiru Sora E" as the game over/victory theme instead.
    • Kay Yu himself stated that at some point during development, Shion was meant to have her real-life cat Rui as a companion similar to Ame's dog Bubba. Due to Rui passing away before release, however, it was changed to the Magic Garlic to respect Shion's situation.
