Trivia / Eurythmics

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In the video for "Who's That Girl?", Annie Lennox is the singer in the video and the black haired man who kisses her in the end.
  • Breakthrough Hit: "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)".
  • Dye Hard: A natural dirty blonde, Annie is better known as a redhead during the band's breakthrough period and as a platinum blonde during the band's later years. She would darken her hair after she went solo before returning back to blonde hair in the Noughties.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Annie Lennox is a fan of Blondie, which is why Eurythmics worked so long with their drummer, Clem Burke.
  • Referenced by...:
    • "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" is heard during Quicksilver's rescue of Professor Xavier's students in X-Men: Apocalypse. It's also used in TRON: Legacy along with Journey's "Separate Ways" playing in the abandoned arcade. The lyrics on both act as Foreshadowing.
    • American figure skater Ashley Wagner performed to "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" for her short program during the 2016-2017 competitive season.
  • Throw It In!: The Epic Riff of "Sweet Dreams" was accidentally conceived in the studio when Stewart played a bass track in reverse.
  • Troubled Production: The video for "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" had a few complications. The label hated when Annie Lennox arrived with her hair short and she refused to wear a dress. A cow was also brought on set and was allowed to run amok. The part where the cow walks up to keyboardist Dave Stewart? It was completely unexpected and they were expecting the cow to harass Stewart and ruin the shot.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves" was originally supposed to be a collaboration with Tina Turner, however Turner was unavailable at the time so they asked Aretha Franklin to be part of the duet instead.
    • They were scheduled to play Wembley Stadium for Live Aid but cancelled after Annie Lennox suffered serious throat problems.
