• California Doubling: While some of the scenes were shot on location in New York, some of them were filmed in Toronto, Canada.
• Inspiration for the Work: Chris Rock wanted to do a remake of Heaven Can Wait (1978) when he found out that the film's director, Warren Beatty, wanted Muhammad Ali for the lead role.
• Production Posse: Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and John Cho, who appear in this film, had previously worked with the Weitz brothers on American Pie.
• Written by Cast Member: In addition to starring in the film, Chris Rock also co-wrote the script.
