Trivia / Diamond Dallas Page

  • Life Imitates Art: That whole "Self Help Guru" schtick he had going towards the end of his WWE run? That led into this, where his "Yoga For Regular Guys" was able to help a disabled Gulf War veteran lose 140 lbs (and regain the ability to walk unassisted) over the course of a year. Also doubles as a CMoH and CMoA, as the guy was rejected by other Yoga instructors he'd approached.
    • His work turning Jake Roberts and Scott Hall around appears to be nothing short of epic.
  • What Could Have Been: DDP reportedly had two of his friends in his early days at WCW tape his matches for him so he could study them. His friends proceeded to add their color commentary to the matches. Later on, DDP joked he could make a fortune of these DDP matches with commentary by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Mick Foley.
    • Page was considered to end Goldberg's streak at Halloween Havoc '98. Dusty Rhodes pulled Page aside and told DDP that he thought he was ready and would go to bat for the idea with Eric Bischoff with a match largely centering around the shoulder injury spot Goldberg and Page had already built into the match. The Diamond Cutter was also over as an ultra-dangerous finish that could come out of nowhere and beat anyone. Between those two things, it could have been plausible. However, since Goldberg was going to be appearing on the next week's Entertainment Weekly with the World Title belt, Page and Bischoff agreed that it was best to leave the title on Goldberg. In hindsight, most fans think it would have been best if DDP had been the one to do it...
    • When DDP first got into WWE, he proposed a storyline to Vince a storyline based around "People's Champion vs People's Champion" that would pit him, the People's Champion of the WCW, against the then up-and-coming WWE People's Champion The Rock in what could end up as a epic feud and a passing of the torch moment. Vince, sadly, insisted on the Undertaker stalker idea until Page relented, something which he regrets (as he feels he had the pull to convince Vince).
    • Very shortly before his WWE career ended, the WWE bookers had decided to try pushing DDP as... wait for it... DDP. They let him go back to his old gimmick, and even started hyping the Diamond Cutter as a devastating finisher that could come out of nowhere. About 3 matches into his push, DDP fought Hardcore Holly. First DDP botched a super-plex and landed hard on the back of his neck, and a bit later Holly concussed him with a dropkick. The combined injuries ended his wrestling career.
    • Page actually did try to train as a wrestler in his twenties, but a string of knee injuries from a car accident he was in when he was younger (he was actually hit by a car, and playing basketball in high school made it worse) along with his very profitable nightclub business and early success as a manager caused him not to pursue an in-ring career until his mid-30s.
