Trivia / Cinderella (2021)

Go To

  • Actor-Shared Background: Like his character Prince Robert, Nicholas Galitzine is also a prince — he's the direct descendant of House of Golitsyn / Galitzine, an exiled Russian noble family. His grandfather, father and Nicholas himself are styled as Prince Galitzine. This article contains more info about the actor's Blue Blood heritage.
  • The Danza: The mice — as voiced/played by James Corden and Romesh Ranganathan — are named James and Romesh. The one voiced/played by James Acaster is named John to differentiate from the first James.
  • Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Camila Cabello dubs herself as Ella in the Latin American Spanish dub.
  • Playing with Character Type: In a roundabout way, Menzel has made a name for herself playing sympathetic iterations of fairy tale villains, from the Wicked Witch of the West to the Snow Queen. She can now add Cinderella's wicked stepmother to this list, but she plays it a bit more straight than the previous examples.
  • What Could Have Been: At some point during production, Missy Elliott was onboard to play the Town Crier, but fell off and replaced by Ben Bailey Smith.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Billy Porter has insinuated that he portrayed the Fabulous Godmother as non-binary, something writer/director Kay Cannon wasn't thinking of when she was writing or filming the movie. Cannon just wanted Porter to play the part because hiring a man to play Cinderella's Fairy Godmother would make the character stand out from previous adaptations where the part was played by a woman. Ironically, there already was a 1977 porn parody that featured a sassy gay black man as Cinderella's fairy godmother.
